{"id":133265,"date":"2023-12-20T11:57:13","date_gmt":"2023-12-20T11:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/20\/supreme-court-reserves-judgement-on-pdp-lp-suits-challenging-sanwo-olus-victory\/"},"modified":"2023-12-20T11:57:13","modified_gmt":"2023-12-20T11:57:13","slug":"supreme-court-reserves-judgement-on-pdp-lp-suits-challenging-sanwo-olus-victory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/20\/supreme-court-reserves-judgement-on-pdp-lp-suits-challenging-sanwo-olus-victory\/","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court Reserves Judgement On PDP, LP Suits Challenging Sanwo-Olu\u2019s Victory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on two appeals by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, challenging the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos state.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that Sanwo-Olu contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the governorship election held in March 2023.<\/p>\n<p>He polled 762,134 votes to defeat his close challenger, Vivour of the LP, who scored 312,329 votes, Adediran, of PDP came a distant third with 62,449 votes.<\/p>\n<p>However, appeals by Rhodes-Vivour and Adeniran are against the earlier judgments of the Court of Appeal in Lagos, which affirmed the two decisions of the election tribunal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour Loses Polling Unit To Sanwo-Olu<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The tribunal court had dismissed their petition, challenging Sanwo-Olu\u2019s victory in the last governorship poll.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court, on Tuesday, presided over by Justice John Okoro, told parties that they would be informed when the judgments are ready.<\/p>\n<p>Rhodes-Vivour and Adeniran are challenging the declaration of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) which declared Sanwo-Olu as the winner.<\/p>\n<p>The deputy governor, Femi Hamzat, Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin and some other senior officials of the Lagos State Government witnessed the court session.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-7\" style=\"margin: 8px auto; text-align: center; display: block; clear: both;\">\n<div data-advadstrackid=\"890536\" data-advadstrackbid=\"1\" class=\"infor-target\" id=\"infor-290972824\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/300x250b.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"\/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court has reserved judgment on two appeals by the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party, challenging the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos state.
