{"id":132499,"date":"2023-12-18T17:35:57","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T17:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/18\/ignore-the-mischief-of-misguided-elements-maintain-your-focus-akufo-addo-to-bog\/"},"modified":"2023-12-18T17:35:57","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T17:35:57","slug":"ignore-the-mischief-of-misguided-elements-maintain-your-focus-akufo-addo-to-bog","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/18\/ignore-the-mischief-of-misguided-elements-maintain-your-focus-akufo-addo-to-bog\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Ignore the mischief of misguided elements;\u2019 maintain your focus \u2013 Akufo-Addo to BoG \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>President\u00a0Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\u00a0has admonished the\u00a0Bank of Ghana\u00a0to remain resolute and focused on delivering on its mandate while ignoring the \u201cmischief of misguided elements.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Bank has, during a difficult period, served as an efficient currency manager, regulator and lender of last resort.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at an End of Year Cocktail event for the Central Bank on December 14, 2023, President Akufo-Addo said, \u201cI am aware this year has been challenging for the bank but with the excellent leadership and the dedicated staff of the BoG, the bank has been able to surmount the difficulties and emerged even stronger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile I congratulate the bank for its achievements over the years, I want to stress that the current economic challenges require that every hand should be on deck.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued that, \u201cBy the grace of God, we have turned the corner and I reiterate my call for stronger partnerships and greater degree of policy coordination between the BoG and the Ministry of Finance. This call is for the bank within its remit of operational independence to play a pivotal role in helping to formulate and implement policies that will help usher in the economic transformation we all desire.
