{"id":132166,"date":"2023-12-18T04:11:12","date_gmt":"2023-12-18T04:11:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/18\/ruto-launches-construction-of-new-commuter-railway-line-to-ease-congestion-in-nairobi\/"},"modified":"2023-12-18T04:11:12","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T04:11:12","slug":"ruto-launches-construction-of-new-commuter-railway-line-to-ease-congestion-in-nairobi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/18\/ruto-launches-construction-of-new-commuter-railway-line-to-ease-congestion-in-nairobi\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruto Launches Construction of New Commuter Railway Line To Ease Congestion in Nairobi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304619\" alt=\"\" width=\"915\" height=\"584\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commuter-rail.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304619\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commuter-rail.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"915\" height=\"584\"  \/>The government is expanding the Nairobi Commuter Railway Services to address traffic congestion in the Nairobi Metropolitan.<\/p>\n<p>President William Ruto said the project will give Kenyans affordable and reliable transport solutions, connecting people to services and economic opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>He said the government has secured funds for the revitalization of transport infrastructure projects in Nairobi among them the Riruta- Ngong- Kiserian- Ongata Rongai commuter rail.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis rail has the capacity of transporting thousands of people every day, thereby reducing traffic congestion on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the rail would reduce the cost of transport within the city by half, contributing to the overall reduction in the cost of living.<\/p>\n<p>He made the remarks on Friday during the launch of the construction of the 12.5 Kilometre Riruta-Ngong Commuter Rail line that will run through Riruta, Karen, Bulbul and Ngong\u2019 stations.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304620\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"594\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commuter.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304620\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commuter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"594\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>Present were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku, MPs and MCAs.<\/p>\n<p>The President said the government is implementing such projects to create jobs for the youth.<\/p>\n<p>The government, he added, will also construct affordable houses in Ngong, aiming to generate additional opportunities for the youth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs we speak we have 120,000 youth working in various affordable housing projects across the country,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gachagua said the implementation of infrastructure projects will facilitate the movement of people and goods, thereby opening up the country for business.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Murkomen said the construction of the Bus Rapid Transit will resume in January next year to complement the rail system.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304617\" alt=\"\" width=\"885\" height=\"539\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/comm-1.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304617\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/comm-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"885\" height=\"539\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304618\" alt=\"\" width=\"892\" height=\"585\"  data-lazy- src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commu.jpg\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-304618\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/commu.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"892\" height=\"585\"  \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government is expanding the Nairobi Commuter Railway Services to address traffic congestion in the Nairobi Metropolitan.
