{"id":131163,"date":"2023-12-14T14:37:57","date_gmt":"2023-12-14T14:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/14\/exemption-of-tertiary-institutions-from-ippis-commendable-solve-other-issues-to-avoid-strike-asuu-to-fg\/"},"modified":"2023-12-14T14:37:57","modified_gmt":"2023-12-14T14:37:57","slug":"exemption-of-tertiary-institutions-from-ippis-commendable-solve-other-issues-to-avoid-strike-asuu-to-fg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/14\/exemption-of-tertiary-institutions-from-ippis-commendable-solve-other-issues-to-avoid-strike-asuu-to-fg\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Exemption Of Tertiary Institutions From IPPIS Commendable, Solve Other Issues To Avoid Strike&#8217; \u2014 ASUU To FG"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-834193\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/Professor-Emmanuel-Osodeke.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"473\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has expressed satisfaction over the Federal Government\u2019s directive to remove universities and other tertiary institutions from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) payment platform.<\/p>\n<p>The Federal Executive Council (FEC) announced the exemption of universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other tertiary institutions from the IPPIS payment platform.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, disclosed this after a cabinet meeting presided over by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.<\/p>\n<p>ASUU\u2019s President, Emmanuel Osodeke, who welcomed the development, noted that it would contribute to bringing universities back on track.<\/p>\n<p>He further commended the administration for taking this step and emphasized that addressing the issues related to the IPPIS was a key concern for the union and major reason for previous strikes and salary-related challenges.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO: 2027: APC May Be Kicked Out If Life Keeps Getting More Difficult Under \u201cProgessive\u201d Party \u2014 Lukman Warns<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Osodeke said in a chat with Daily Trust: \u201cIf that is correct, it is a good step in the right direction. We commend the administration for that. That\u2019s what we\u2019re talking about. If that\u2019s correct, we are now coming up as universities gradually.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He urged the government to also address the punishment meted out to ASUU members and emphasized that the right actions should be taken.<\/p>\n<p>While acknowledging the positive development, Osodeke stressed that there were still other issues to be resolved and urged the government to ensure a comprehensive resolution to prevent future strikes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a good development. We commend the government for listening to our concerns after three years.
