{"id":128877,"date":"2023-12-08T13:59:47","date_gmt":"2023-12-08T13:59:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/08\/bank-of-ghana-is-irresponsible-and-reckless-nam-1\/"},"modified":"2023-12-08T13:59:47","modified_gmt":"2023-12-08T13:59:47","slug":"bank-of-ghana-is-irresponsible-and-reckless-nam-1","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/12\/08\/bank-of-ghana-is-irresponsible-and-reckless-nam-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank of Ghana is \u2018irresponsible and reckless\u2019 \u2013 NAM 1 \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer of defunct\u00a0Menzgold,\u00a0Nana Appiah Mensah, on December 8, 2021 accused the central bank of being irresponsible and reckless.<\/p>\n<p>His comment came after the\u00a0Bank of Ghana\u00a0cautioned the general public to not deposit any money with\u00a0Menzgold\u00a0Company Limited since it has not been licensed to do so.<\/p>\n<p>Businessmen and CEO of\u00a0Menzgold,\u00a0Nana Appiah Mensah, has descended heavily on the\u00a0Bank of Ghana, describing the respected state institution as reckless and irresponsible.<\/p>\n<p>Appiah Mensah\u2019s outburst follows BoG\u2019s caution to the general public not to deposit any money with\u00a0Menzgold\u00a0Company Limited since it has not been licensed to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe general public is hereby informed that\u00a0Menzgold\u00a0Company Limited is not licensed by the\u00a0Bank of Ghana\u00a0and has no authority to engage in the solicitation, receipt of money and payment of dividends to its client.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccordingly, the general public is cautioned that anyone who transacts any of the above mentioned business with\u00a0Menzgold\u00a0Ghana Company Limited, does so at his\/her own risk and\u00a0Bank of Ghana\u00a0will not be liable to such clients and depositors in the event of loss, the BoG said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>However, Appiah Mensah took to his twitter handle on Friday to lash out at the bank saying, \u201cBOG is well informed that,\u00a0Menzgold\u00a0is operating within the legal framework as it is now. Where is Ghana\u2019s commodities trading Act?
