Nemanja Matic has revealed Jadon Sancho and Paul Pogba\u2019s frequent lateness to training sessions angered the Manchester United squad at the time.<\/p>\n
Rennes midfielder Matic made 128 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils between 2017 and 2022.<\/p>\n
The 35-year-old has recalled in an interview with YuPlanet that he was shocked by the punctuality of the United squad compared to his previous club Chelsea.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cAt Chelsea, players acted professionally, they were punctual and were never late for training but at United it happened almost every day.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAmong the players who would always be late were Paul Pogba and Jadon Sancho and couple of other players.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rest of us who were always on time were angry so we decided to form a kind of an internal disciplinary committee with me serving as its president.<\/p>\n
\u201cI put a sheet of paper up on the wall where I documented the names of individuals arriving late.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring one particular season we collected around \u00a375,000 in fines.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had planned to use the money to throw a party in London but we didn\u2019t due to the Covid outbreak.\u201d<\/p>\n
Matic\u2019s revelation comes a few months after Sancho\u2019s exclusion from any first-team action at United by manager Erik ten Hag.\u00a0<\/p>\n The 23-year-old claimed in a social media post he had been made a \u201cscapegoat\u201d following his omission from the squad for the defeat at Arsenal on September 3.<\/p>\n Sancho has not featured for United since and Ten Hag has admitted he is unsure if the winger will ever play for the club again.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Red Devils boss said in September: \u201cI don\u2019t know [if he will play for United again].<\/p>\n \u201cHe is not available, so in this moment, he is not important, because he can\u2019t contribute.\u201d<\/p>\n![\"Jadon](\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/1f8efaa1-e730-4e05-9ae7-725396ab65e6.jpg\")
