{"id":126014,"date":"2023-11-30T18:37:01","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T18:37:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/30\/reject-proposed-l-i-to-restrict-importation-of-22-strategic-products-johnny-mantey-to-speaker-of-parliament\/"},"modified":"2023-11-30T18:37:01","modified_gmt":"2023-11-30T18:37:01","slug":"reject-proposed-l-i-to-restrict-importation-of-22-strategic-products-johnny-mantey-to-speaker-of-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/30\/reject-proposed-l-i-to-restrict-importation-of-22-strategic-products-johnny-mantey-to-speaker-of-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Reject proposed L.I to restrict importation of 22 strategic products \u2013 Johnny Mantey to Speaker of Parliament \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Tema Chapter of Ghana Institute of Freight Forwarders (GIFF) has appealed to the Speaker of\u00a0Parliament,\u00a0Alban Bagbin, to reject the proposed legislative instrument which seeks to restrict the importation of 22 selected strategic products.<\/p>\n<p>In a release signed by the chairman of the chapter, Forwarder Johnny Mantey, and sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the legislation was drafted without the consultation of all stakeholders within the trading and shipping industry and the business community at large.<\/p>\n<p>He therefore entreated government to reconsider the draft regulation\u2019s construction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have observed the government\u2019s intention, through the Minister responsible for Trade and Industry, to pass a legislative instrument, Export and Import (Restrictions on importation of selected strategic products) Regulations, 2023 which seeks to restrict the importation of 22 items defined as selected strategic imports.
