A petroleum economist and political risk analyst, Dr. Theo Acheampong, has proposed some ideas he believes could stimulate additional demands for the Ho Airport.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He wants the government to, with immediate effect, scrap all local taxes on flight tickets for those travelling to and from the airport only.<\/p>\n

The economist has also asked the government to engage the Ghana Air Force to consider setting up a squadron [and related facilities] to be based at the airport.<\/p>\n

In his view, the airport could become a mixed-use civilian and military airport like Takoradi and Tamale.<\/p>\n

He further proposed that the government should engage national and regional businesses to establish light industries and manufacturing companies around the airport.<\/p>\n

He shared the ideas on his official Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Some ideas on what can be done to stimulate additional demand for the Ho Airport:<\/p>\n

Immediately scrap all local taxes on flight tickets for those travelling to and from the airport only.<\/p>\n

Engage the Ghana Airforce to consider setting up a Squadron [and related facilities] to be based there; Ho could become a mixed-use civilian and military airport like Takoradi and Tamale.<\/p>\n

Engage national and regional businesses to establish light industries and manufacturing companies around the airport s.t. business feasibility analysis.
Engage with local tour companies to package and provide 2-day weekend tours of the Volta region.<\/p>\n

Flights will depart on Friday afternoon and return to Accra on Sunday evening. A mix of sightseeing to Amedzofe and other sites within say 50 square km.
