It will be a bit insensitive to increase the fees of acquiring passports at this moment,\u201d he told\u00a0journalists\u00a0on Tuesday, November 28.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has hinted at a possible rise in passport application fees.<\/p>\n<p>Production costs and the current affordability compared to other countries in the sub-region are the reasons for the imminent increment in the prices, Deputy\u00a0Minister\u00a0of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, said.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, November 28, he said \u201cLiberia\u00a0charges $50, we charge $8, meaning we have to subsidize every passport. So the\u00a0money\u00a0to buy the printers is used to subsidize the passports\u2026 And also, we are thinking of upgrading our passport from biometric to chip-embedded.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo the chip-embedded version is going to cost more.
