{"id":124344,"date":"2023-11-27T15:37:46","date_gmt":"2023-11-27T15:37:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/27\/bernardo-silva-admits-liverpool-are-back-after-man-city-draw\/"},"modified":"2023-11-27T15:37:46","modified_gmt":"2023-11-27T15:37:46","slug":"bernardo-silva-admits-liverpool-are-back-after-man-city-draw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/27\/bernardo-silva-admits-liverpool-are-back-after-man-city-draw\/","title":{"rendered":"Bernardo Silva admits \u2018Liverpool are back\u2019 after Man City draw \u2013"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has admitted that Liverpool are \u201cback\u201d following Saturday\u2019s hard-fought 1-1 draw between the clubs, conceding it is also better for the Premier League overall that the Reds are competitive at the top of the table once more.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>While City have won five of the last six titles and haven\u2019t finished outside the top two since 2016\/17 \u2013 Pep Guardiola\u2019s first season in charge \u2013 to match the same run Manchester United enjoyed under Sir Alex Ferguson between 1995\/96 and 2000\/01, Liverpool have been more inconsistent.<\/p>\n<p>In three of the last five seasons, Jurgen Klopp\u2019s team have gone over 90 points \u2013 twice finishing second with ridiculous tallies of 97 and 92. But in others during that period they have failed to reach 70 and last season finished outside the top four and missed out on Champions League qualification.<\/p>\n<p>So far in 2023\/24,\u00a0Liverpool\u00a0have been challenging at the top of the table and are two points off leaders Arsenal with a third of the campaign now played.\u00a0City\u00a0sit between them, while Aston Villa are level on points with Liverpool after an incredible transformation under Unai Emery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think we should have won. But when you play a team like Liverpool, this season they are back being very competitive again,\u201d\u00a0Silva\u00a0reflected on the game.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/01hg8882cm43501dfqc7.jpg\" alt=\"Juergen Klopp, Pep Guardiola\" title=\"Juergen Klopp, Pep Guardiola\"\/><\/figure>\n<p>Jurgen Klopp &amp; Pep Guardiola are back to directly competing \/ Michael Regan\/GettyImages<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n<p>\u201cWe expected it after a tough [2022\/23] season for them. We knew their energy was going to be back so it\u2019s going to be tough, not just with them but Arsenal, Spurs. But we are also ready to fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe enjoy it more when we win but it\u2019s nice for the\u00a0Premier League\u00a0and fans when it\u2019s this tight and there is emotion,\u201d the Portuguese added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe now have four teams who are very close to each other. We are going to try our best to get a little bit of distance. Last season wasn\u2019t nice to be so far behind Arsenal. We want to stay close to the top so when it gets to February, March we are in the discussion again to win the Premier League.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>City\u2019s title last season, which was one third of a famous treble, was also their third in a row, matching the previous bests set by Huddersfield, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, the latter doing it twice.
