Ghana\u2019s public debt declines to GH\u00a2567.3 billion, representing 66.4%<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recent figures released by the Bank of Ghana has showed that Ghana\u2019s public debt has declined to GH\u00a2567.3 billion as of September 2023.<\/p>\n

This represents 66.4 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) depicting a GH\u00a214.2 billion decline compared to the GH\u00a2581.5 billion recorded in June 2023.<\/p>\n

According to Bank of Ghana\u2019s Summary of Economic and Financial Data for November 2023, the country\u2019s public debt rose comparatively by GH\u00a28.5 billion since January 2023 and GH\u00a288.5 billion since September 2022.<\/p>\n

The data also showed that the total debt stock in dollars terms was pegged at US$51.0 billion as of June 2023.<\/p>\n

In terms of Ghana\u2019s external debt, the figure was GH\u00a2326.7 billion (US$29.4 billion), while domestic debt accounted for GH\u00a2240.6 billion.<\/p>\n

This further represented a decline in both external and domestic debt declining marginally in June 2023. For the period, external debt decreased to GH\u00a21.9 billion from GH\u00a2328.6 billion in June 2023 to GH\u00a2326.7 billion in September 2023.<\/p>\n

For domestic debt, Ghana saw the figure decline by GH\u00a212. 3 billion, compared to the June 2023 figure of GH\u00a2252.9.3 billion for the same period.<\/p>\n

In addition to the figures, Ghana\u2019s nominal Gross Domestic Product was pegged GH\u00a2854. 8 billion as of September 2023, up from the GH\u00a2610.2 billion recorded in September 2022.<\/p>\n
