Unfortunately, all their efforts so far have ended in failure, leaving them with no other choice than to call in sound experts to solve the mystery. People \u201cusually characterize it as a persistent buzz or hum\u201d that differs from the sound of passing vehicles and that can only heard late at night, usually around 12:00 am \u2013 01:00 am. While some have gotten used to it, others claim that it is interfering with their night sleep and demand that something be done about it.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-79985 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/omagh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"478\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: Kenneth Allen\u00a0\/\u00a0Omagh\u00a0\/\u00a0<\/em><em><a class=\"external text\" href=\"https:\/\/creativecommons.org\/licenses\/by-sa\/2.0\/\" rel=\"nofollow\">CC BY-SA 2.0<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOfficers are currently investigating the use of specialist equipment, or procurement of a specialist company, to assist in detecting the source of the noise,\u201d a council spokesperson told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/uk-northern-ireland-67410171\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">BBC<\/a>. \u201cDue to the wide area where the sound has been reported it is difficult to pinpoint the exact source(s).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI appreciate that when a story like this is kind of draped in mystery and intrigue that it can very easily become a subject of trivialization but certainly from people I have spoken to \u2026 they are very concerned about the ability that they have to make sure they get a good night\u2019s sleep,\u201d Alliance councilor Stephen Donnelly said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"i-gaydJoBMs\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Omagh&#039;s mystery hum keeps Tyrone residents awake\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/i-gaydJoBMs?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Some of the theories being thrown around about the source of the mysterious hum range from farm or factory machinery to flying saucers. For years, the English village of Holmfield has been affected by a mysterious noise that has come to be known as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.odditycentral.com\/news\/holmfield-hum-mystery-sound-has-been-plaguing-english-village-for-years.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Holmfield Hum<\/a>. A similar phenomenon has been occurring in Windsor, a Canadian city near Detroit.
