It didn\u2019t go well\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The retiring cook, known only as Mariska, had worked in a Zeeland hotel alongside her colleagues for a long time and wanted to part ways with them in a memorable way. They had discussed the cannabis-infused space cake many times in the past but had never gotten around to actually making it together, so she decided to make one for them, as a parting gift. On February 8th, on her last day on the job, she greeted her colleagues and left the workplace, but not before leaving behind a surprise cake for her colleagues along with a note advising them to only eat it after working hours. Unfortunately, some of them just couldn\u2019t wait.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/a-pile-of-brownies-sitting-on-top-of-a-white-plate-LjtviHokbr4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Anna Przepiorka\/Unsplash<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Not knowing that there was cannabis in the cake, two of Mariska\u2019s colleagues quickly ate a few slices, something they would end up regretting shortly. One of the sweet-toothed hotel workers reportedly started feeling very tired, started vomiting, and eventually lost consciousness. He was found sleeping in his own vomit by a passerby. Even after waking up, he felt so bad that he couldn\u2019t even go home and had to spend the night at the hotel.<\/p>\n<p>The other colleague became nauseous immediately after eating the cannabis-infused dessert and then reportedly slept very poorly for a while. Both men ended up taking Mariska to court for her surprise farewell gift.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-79978 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/gp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/brownie.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"750\" height=\"500\"\/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Photo: <a href=\"https:\/\/unsplash.com\/photos\/chocolate-cake-on-white-ceramic-plate-yRI0fojBUv8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Anisa Mustafa\/Unsplash<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome people react well, but for others, it doesn\u2019t work,\u201d Mariska told the court, in an attempt to explain that it was never her intention to make her colleagues sick.<\/p>\n<p>The woman\u2019s explanation didn\u2019t exactly convince the judge, who described the woman\u2019s actions as a \u201cbad prank gone wrong\u201d and said that she should have thought about the possible consequences of her actions. Still, he didn\u2019t agree with the 60 hours of community service requested by the prosecutor, instead forcing the woman to pay her colleagues compensation as well as a suspended fine of 750 euros ($800).
