{"id":121430,"date":"2023-11-20T18:36:00","date_gmt":"2023-11-20T18:36:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/20\/solomon-lartey-highlights-the-need-to-insure-events\/"},"modified":"2023-11-20T18:36:00","modified_gmt":"2023-11-20T18:36:00","slug":"solomon-lartey-highlights-the-need-to-insure-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/11\/20\/solomon-lartey-highlights-the-need-to-insure-events\/","title":{"rendered":"Solomon Lartey highlights the need to insure events"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                        \n\n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solomon Lartey, the President for the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana, has urged event organisers in Ghana to insure their events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He made the call while speaking at the 4th edition of Joy FM\u2019s  Roundtable on events, venues and safety.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Mr Lartey, apart from offering financial support to victims of tragedies at events, securing insurance packages for events could also provide reliefs to the organisers if they cancel their programmes due to unforeseen circumstances. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cSome event insurance packages include event liability and event cancellation. Event cancellation is where there is an intermediary that forces you to cancel the event,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cIf an artiste doesn\u2019t turn up, probably because they had an accident or something happened, or something happened that made it impossible for them to turn up, but you have invested heavily in this event, sometimes it could run into millions of cedis,&#8221; he said intimating that having an insurance policy could salve the effect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Solomon further admitted that it would be prudent for event organisers to engage with the insurance sector to seek education on how to get insurance packages that fit their respective models. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Joy FM thought-leadership forum on arts, tourism and culture was held on 18th of November, 2023, at the Labadi beach Hotel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 4th edition of  Roundtable targeted the operations of event centres, challenges faced by event vendors, the safety consciousness of event patrons and the general precaution checklist of organising events in general ahead of the Yuletide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Other people on the panel were Uncle Ebo Whyte, Playwright &amp; Event Organiser and CEO of Asuavo Security Richard Osei and Roberk Klah, PRO of Charterhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The rest were Sefa Gohoho, the CEO of Untamed Empire and Kojo Poku, the Chief Executive Officer of Big Ideaz Consult.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018 Roundtable\u2019 was moderated by Kwame Dadzie, the host of  A-Z on Joy FM and Joy FM\u2019s Twitter (X) Spaces, Joy Entertainment Unpacked and emceed by Joy News&#8217; Noella Kharyne Yalley.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n                <p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>      \n                <!-- Post Tags -->\n                \n\n                         \n                                             \n                    <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Solomon Lartey, the President for the Chartered Insurance Institute of Ghana, has urged event organisers in Ghana to insure their events.
