In a statement by his family, the amputation became necessary to keep him alive.<\/p>\n
In October, the veteran actor born John Okafor came public about his illness and appealed for financial assistance to avert an amputation.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately he had to get his leg amputated at the end of it all to save his life.<\/p>\n
The family\u2019s statement shared on the actor\u2019s Instagram page Monday, \u201cGood afternoon, Nigerians. We want to appreciate everyone who has come through for our dad.<\/p>\n
\u201cSaying we are grateful is an understatement, and only the good Lord can thank you all enough for every help you\u2019ve rendered.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs of 1 p.m., today, Daddy has gone through seven successful surgeries. But to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis development has been hard on us all, but we\u2019ve had to accept it as Daddy\u2019s new reality to keep him alive.
\u201cPlease, we are still soliciting support from well-meaning Nigerians as, at this stage, Daddy is still very delicate, and he needs all the help he can get.<\/p>\n
\u201cThank you, everyone. The Okafor family is grateful and we don\u2019t take you for granted. In due time, Daddy will personally acknowledge everyone who supported him during this period as soon as he\u2019s stable.\u201d<\/p>\n
