Matthew Perry\u2019s death\u00a0was not the result of fentanyl or meth, according to a new report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The late \u201cFriends\u201d alum did not have either drug in his system at the time of his death, law enforcement\u00a0sources told TMZ\u00a0Wednesday of initial tests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The actor died on Saturday at age 54.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Perry was found by his assistant in his Los Angeles home\u2019s hot tub at the time, with a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesperson telling Page Six he \u201cwas\u00a0deceased prior to first responder arrival.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\nMatthew Perry tested negative for fentanyl and meth.WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Illegal drugs were not found on the premises, according to TMZ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the outlet alleged that\u00a0prescription drugs were on site, including anti-depressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While Perry\u2019s\u00a0autopsy was completed\u00a0over the weekend, his cause of death has been \u201cdeferred\u201d for the time being as toxicology results are pending.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Emmy nominee has been candid about his\u00a0battle with alcohol and opioid addiction\u00a0over the years,\u00a0detailing his sobriety journey\u00a0in his\u00a0\u201cFriends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing\u201d\u00a0memoir.<\/p>\n\n\n\nNeither drug was present in the late actor\u2019s system at the time of his death, TMZ reported.matthewperry4\/Instagram<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Perry had \u201cnever been happier\u201d at the time of his passing and\u00a0had a new acting gig\u00a0on the horizon,\u00a0TMZ reported\u00a0Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u201cGo On\u201d alum, who\u00a0moved into a new home\u00a0weeks earlier, reportedly was also\u00a0planning to start a foundation\u00a0to support people struggling with substance abuse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The day before his death, Perry was\u00a0photographed in good spirits\u00a0dining at Hotel Bel-Air with a mystery brunette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFriends\u201d co-creator Marta Kauffman recently recalled the Golden Globe nominee\u00a0being \u201chappy and chipper\u201d in their last conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
