You choristers stole the design. Something I am selling. This is wickedness.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/F1B65049-AD8C-4A34-B5C1-282C4921D4B6-775x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032403719 lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later, it turned out to be that the designs had been on Pinterest for a long time.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She then issued a press release to apologise for her earlier statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/A55908EC-C57E-4EF8-862E-A3DE48EDA214.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-10032403722 lazy\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to Kwame Dadzie on <strong>Joy FM<\/strong>\u2019s  A-Z, Lawyer Adwoa Paintsil said Serwaa&#8217;s case doesn\u2019t constitute copyright infringement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFor Serwaa\u2019s issue, it is unique because as I said earlier articles of utility cannot be copyrighted. So you cannot copyright a dress per se. you cannot copyright the patterns to a dress.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nothing stops people from recreating a dress because it\u2019s a dress. What you can copyright is maybe the texture of the fabric, maybe the particular design that is the actual embossed design or logo on the fabric,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Asked if the matter would have any strong basis if it were taken to court, Adwoa answered in the negative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNot at all. It\u2019s a basic short sleeved flared-bottom dress.
