{"id":113158,"date":"2023-10-22T16:14:19","date_gmt":"2023-10-22T16:14:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/22\/haiti-meets-ghana-rocks-accra-in-style\/"},"modified":"2023-10-22T16:14:19","modified_gmt":"2023-10-22T16:14:19","slug":"haiti-meets-ghana-rocks-accra-in-style","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/22\/haiti-meets-ghana-rocks-accra-in-style\/","title":{"rendered":"Haiti Meets Ghana Rocks Accra In Style"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A display of rich multiple cultures, an exhibition of similar, yet different artifacts characterized the much anticipated Taste of Afro Caribbean Festival (Haiti Meets Ghana), held at the Gold Coast, Accra Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The well attended event succeeded in showcasing Ghanaian, Haitian, and Caribbean culture on one platform.<\/p>\n<p>It also witnessed cultural immersion with captivating African drum performances, enchanting Haitian music, dances, with the infectious energy of Caribbean carnival dancers, Reggae\/Dancehall, Highlife and Soca  thrilling patrons.<\/p>\n<p>Co Project Director of Destination Konpa, organizers of the event, Fabienne Reid described the event as a huge success saying, \u201cWe didn\u2019t want it to be just as another destination. About 70% to 80% of us are Haitian Americans raised in America with intentions of connecting to black culture.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-416641\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/IMG-20231022-WA0003-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>\u201d We also wanted to immerse with the locals, the community and people within the Ghanaian community. It\u2019s amazing; the similarities \u2013 from mannerisms, food different yet, similar.\u201d<br \/>She added \u201cWe have plans of cultural exchange programs, later invite some locals to our side of the world. It is a platform that offers opportunity to patrons to know which first country that fought slavery and all that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Consul General of Ghana to Haiti, Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, whose speech was read by Mr Bright Appiagyei-Boateng said \u201cIt is my believe that our aim of showcase Ghanaian, Haitian, and Caribbean culture on one platform would be realized after this event<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, as the theme suggests-Taste of Afro Caribbean Festival, code named Haiti Meets Ghana will certainly improve the already existing healthy bond between the two countries.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added \u201cThe world owes Haiti a resolution, it is not a matter of options.
