{"id":112417,"date":"2023-10-19T17:55:54","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T17:55:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/19\/galamsey-sammy-gyamfi-submits-rti-requests-to-ag-epa-and-others\/"},"modified":"2023-10-19T17:55:54","modified_gmt":"2023-10-19T17:55:54","slug":"galamsey-sammy-gyamfi-submits-rti-requests-to-ag-epa-and-others","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/19\/galamsey-sammy-gyamfi-submits-rti-requests-to-ag-epa-and-others\/","title":{"rendered":"Galamsey: Sammy Gyamfi submits RTI requests to AG, EPA, and others"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                        \n\n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, is not reneging on his quest to ensure all persons behind galamsey activities in the country are punished.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has thus submitted a Right to Information (RTI) request to four government agencies requesting information on the activities of Heritage Imperial Company Limited in the Apamprama forest reserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The agencies petitioned include the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Forestry Commission, the Attorney-General\u2019s Department and the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An excerpt of Mr Gyamfi\u2019s petition said, \u201dI believe that the requested information will enable me to assist the Ghana Police Service and the Attorney-General to conduct thorough investigations into this matter to punish anyone found culpable.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the NDC has warned that it will not spare appointees of the Akufo-Addo government allegedly involved in illegal mining should power change hands at the polls in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The party, which has expressed grave concern about the destruction being caused by the illegal mining menace to the current and future generations, is demanding an immediate end to it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to the press on Monday, October 16, at its \u2018Moment of Truth Series, the National Communications Officer of the NDC, Sammy Gyamfi asked appointees involved in the menace to prepare for their day of accountability.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe hereby serve notice, that even if they are let off the hook today, they will not escape the long arms of the law tomorrow, because crime has no expiry date.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cUntil this is done, we shall make no headway in our fight against illegal mining and our beloved country, will have no sustainable future,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mr Gyamfi, however, blamed President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia for the wanton destruction &#8216;galamsey&#8217; has caused the nation.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite this threat, the Attorney General and Minister for Justice have touted the government\u2019s achievements in the galamsey fight.<\/p>\n\n \n                               <p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>      \n                <!-- Post Tags -->\n                \n\n                         \n                                             \n                    <\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, is not reneging on his quest to ensure all persons behind galamsey activities in the country are punished.\u00a0 He has thus submitted a Right to Information (RTI) request to four government agencies requesting information on the activities of Heritage Imperial Company Limited in [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":112418,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-112417","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-politics"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v24.2 -
