{"id":111927,"date":"2023-10-18T12:15:21","date_gmt":"2023-10-18T12:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/18\/my-parents-didnt-want-me-to-marry-my-wife-annica-okyeame-kwame\/"},"modified":"2023-10-18T12:15:21","modified_gmt":"2023-10-18T12:15:21","slug":"my-parents-didnt-want-me-to-marry-my-wife-annica-okyeame-kwame","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/18\/my-parents-didnt-want-me-to-marry-my-wife-annica-okyeame-kwame\/","title":{"rendered":"My parents didn&#8217;t want me to marry my wife Annica &#8211; Okyeame Kwame"},"content":{"rendered":"<br><div id=\"article-text\">\n                        \n\n                        \n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Okyeame Kwame has said in a recent interview that he defied his parents order not to marry his wife Annica.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Ghanaian rapper who spoke on Angel FM said his parents were not in support of the marriage because they did not like his wife&#8217;s religious sect &#8211; Jehovah\u2019s Witness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That notwithstanding, he said they both decided to evade the traditional marriage procedure which would automatically involve both families, and rather went to seal the marriage at the court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMy parents didn&#8217;t agree to our marriage. We lived in Kumasi but we were going to play a show in Accra. When we got to Nkawkaw, my wife who was working in a law firm said if there are about three key types of marriage; an ordinance, customary, Mohammedan, and another one I don\u2019t remember, why can&#8217;t we get married?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He said Annica then asked: \u201cSo the people who don\u2019t support our marriage, will they come and live with us?\u201d Okyeame responded in the negative adding that they went to register the marriage at Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly right after that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Okyeame Kwame, religion was the only thing that was hindering their nuptials.
