{"id":107019,"date":"2023-10-05T11:21:02","date_gmt":"2023-10-05T11:21:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/05\/arteta-bemoans-saka-injury\/"},"modified":"2023-10-05T11:21:02","modified_gmt":"2023-10-05T11:21:02","slug":"arteta-bemoans-saka-injury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/10\/05\/arteta-bemoans-saka-injury\/","title":{"rendered":"Arteta Bemoans Saka Injury &#8211;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Arsenal will hope that Bukayo Saka\u2019s latest injury setback is not serious<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta admitted Bukayo Saka\u2019s latest injury setback is a \u201cworry\u201d but insisted he had no regrets over starting the winger in Tuesday\u2019s 2-1 Champions League defeat at Lens.<\/p>\n<p>The 22-year-old had limped out of the Gunners\u2019 previous two Premier League matches with knocks but was named in the lineup at Stade Bollaert-Delelis, lasting only 34 minutes before he was forced off with a muscular injury.<\/p>\n<p>Saka created the opening goal for Gabriel Jesus before Adrien Thomasson equalised and Elye Wahi struck a 69th-minute winner to inflict Arsenal\u2019s first defeat of the season.<\/p>\n<p>The England international is now likely to undergo a scan to determine the severity of the problem and is a doubt for Sunday\u2019s Premier League clash with champions Manchester City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe tried to backheel a ball in the first half and he felt something,\u201d said Arteta. \u201cIt was something muscular. He was uncomfortable and we had to take him off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know anything more than that. Obviously, it was big enough not to allow him to continue to play the game and that is obviously a worry for us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have no clue, [about the weekend], I don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked whether he had any regrets starting Saka given his recent fitness problems, Arteta replied: \u201cNo, it was a knock that he had the other day. He was perfectly fine. It was an action, a backheel, that can produce that type of injury. Let\u2019s see what the extent of it is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last few were more knocks than anything else. He hasn\u2019t really missed games. We gave him a break against Brentford last week and that was all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Arsenal remain on three points in Group B and Arteta added: \u201cI painted a picture and the type of scenario we were going to face today and they all knew about it. But this Champions League is so difficult to win away from home.
