{"id":103996,"date":"2023-09-27T20:55:05","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T20:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/09\/27\/kan-dapaah-demands-%c2%a210m-from-barker-vormawor-over-bribery-allegations\/"},"modified":"2023-09-27T20:55:05","modified_gmt":"2023-09-27T20:55:05","slug":"kan-dapaah-demands-%c2%a210m-from-barker-vormawor-over-bribery-allegations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/09\/27\/kan-dapaah-demands-%c2%a210m-from-barker-vormawor-over-bribery-allegations\/","title":{"rendered":"Kan Dapaah Demands \u00a210m From Barker- Vormawor Over Bribery Allegations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_30\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>The Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah has sued the convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor for alleging that the National Security and other government officials met him in 2021 and offered him money to supposedly silence him.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-901\" data-method=\"placement-service\"\/><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-114\" data-inserter-version=\"2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Barker-Vormawor made the allegations after he and others were released by the police after they were arrested on September 22 for staging a demonstration in Accra in breach of a restraining order secured by the police.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-909\" data-method=\"placement-service\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Kan Dapaah, in his suit, is among other things asking the court to declare that the words uttered by Barker-Vormawor are defamatory.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-910\" data-method=\"placement-service\"\/><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-122\" data-inserter-version=\"2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>He is also demanding the \u201crecovery of the sum of Ten Million Ghana Cedis (GHC10,000,000.00) as General Damages, including Aggravated and\/or Exemplary Damages for Defamation for the words uttered by Defendant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-911\" data-method=\"placement-service\"\/><\/p>\n<p>He is also demanding an apology for and retraction of the words complained of as well as \u201ca perpetual injunction restraining the Defendant from repeating similar or other defamatory words against the Plaintiff\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Barker-Vormawor had claimed that he was offered an enticing amount of $1 million and other juicy positions in government in order to stop this activism, which was supposedly painting the government black.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-912\" data-method=\"placement-service\"\/><span id=\"ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-123\" data-inserter-version=\"2\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The activist had insisted that he had evidence to his claim, but he is yet to make the files public.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of National Security, Kan Dapaah has sued the convener of the #FixTheCountry Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor for alleging that the National Security and other government officials met him in 2021 and offered him money to supposedly silence him.
