{"id":102259,"date":"2023-09-23T11:56:47","date_gmt":"2023-09-23T11:56:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/09\/23\/cas-throws-out-tema-youths-appeal-against-relegation-from-dol\/"},"modified":"2023-09-23T11:56:47","modified_gmt":"2023-09-23T11:56:47","slug":"cas-throws-out-tema-youths-appeal-against-relegation-from-dol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/09\/23\/cas-throws-out-tema-youths-appeal-against-relegation-from-dol\/","title":{"rendered":"CAS throws out Tema Youth\u2019s appeal against relegation from DOL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"522\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2023\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/WhatsApp-Image-2020-04-23-at-10.22.50-1-696x522.jpeg\"   alt=\"Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer\" title=\"Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed\u00a0Tema Youth FC\u2019s application for an injunction to halt the club\u2019s relegation from the Division One League.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This decision comes as CAS awaits the final verdict in Tema Youth FC\u2019s substantive case against the Ghana Football Association (GFA).<\/p>\n<p>Previously, on July 26, 2022, CAS turned down Tema Youth FC\u2019s request for a stay of execution regarding the GFA Appeals Committee\u2019s decision concerning payments related to the transfer of player Joseph Paintsil.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Following this, Young Red Bull FC pursued a case for enforcement of payment against Tema Youth FC, leading to a continued 3-point deduction for Tema Youth FC after each match, in accordance with the Disciplinary Code, due to their non-compliance with the Appeals Committee\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n<p>Recalling the Appeals Committee\u2019s ruling on June 11, 2022, Tema Youth FC was instructed to make the following payments within 14 days: EUR 688,000 to Young Red Bull, EUR 150,000 to the GFA and EUR 150,000 to the Ghana League Clubs Association (\u201cGHALCA\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>Tema Youth\u2019s Latest Application to CAS<\/p>\n<p>On August 25, 2023, Tema Youth FC once again approached CAS, seeking provisional measures to halt their relegation from Division One League Zone 3 to Division Two League until CAS issues a final decision in the ongoing case.<\/p>\n<p>After careful consideration of the arguments presented by both Tema Youth FC and the GFA, the CAS Panel has determined the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 The \u201cPetition on Demotion,\u201d treated as a request for provisional measures, filed by Tema Youth Football Club on August 25, 2023, in the matter CAS 2022\/A\/9010 Tema Youth Football Club v.
