Ghanaian dancer Incredible Zigi has rendered an apology to musicians for a statement he recently made regarding the role dancers play in promoting music.

Zigi had told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM that dancers have becomne indispensable in music promotion, a reason he supported the call by World Dance Champion Adjetey Sowah for the Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMA) to have a category for dancers.

The founder of the Afrozig Movement stressed that a platform like the VGMA organised by Charterhouse should consider including dancers in their subsequent editions.

“That is what we all have been looking forward to. Most of these songs that are getting recognition in Ghana are tailored by dancers. We spent much time on social media posting the songs.

“It’s like the artists are sleeping and we are the ones blowing the song. Dancers need to be awarded on a big platform like the VGMA,” he said.

His submission seems to have irked a number of people who thought he was being condescending to the musicians. His critics had asserted that if the artistes were sleeping, he wouldn’t have gotten songs for his performances.
