Massive pressure on Australia coach Eddie Jones

Australia coach Eddie Jones is going to enter the Rugby World Cup under massive pressure to change his teams fortunes.

Jones hit the news headlines after he slammed Australian media for always being negative about the team. He now has a huge task of his hands to change the narrative on. The field of play.

Of course, he’s thrown in a few lines about throwing straight or not rolling away.

Australia were never as bad as people sometimes made out. They may have struggled for consistency but in Dave Rennie’s last game in charge we battered them for 60 minutes, then they battered us for 20 and we lost the game. They have got talent.

Eddie had a tough start, losing four on the bounce. His first game in charge was South Africa away, at altitude. At times against Argentina they were the better side but there were errors.

So he will be looking forward to the World Cup. Everyone will be writing him and his team off, and that’s the perfect position for him. He’ll have more time with the players to work on a game plan he wants.

The Wallabies have a new conditioning team. They’ll get better and seeing Eddie smash radios just shows how passionate he is.

He won’t be happy with losses but with his rearguard mentality he’ll be relishing the World Cup. He will come out fighting, as Australians generally do.

In most World Cups you know the two sides who will go through, you just don’t know the order. Why this World Cup will be good is because that’s not the case now.

Australia are nowhere near the favourites and they will be under massive pressure to score wins.
