There seems to be a rising chaos at Paris Saint Germain following the latest revelation from one of their longest-serving players, Presnel Kimpembe.
Just two days ago, Kylian Mbappé captained PSG in their Coupe de France match against US Pays de Cassel, with first team skipper Marquinhos settling for a place on the bench while his previous vice, Kimpembe was also absent from the starting XI.
The tie ended in a 7-nil away victory for PSG thanks to goals from Neymar, Carlos Soler and Mbappé who found the back of the net 5 times on Monday night.
The following day, there were viral reports that Mbappé has officially been made PSG’s vice-captain going forward, with the decision to strip Kimpembe of the role believed to have been communicated to the defender, according to ‘PSGhub’ on Twitter.
However, Kimpembe has countered the claims that he was made aware of PSG’s decision to remove him as vice-captain by taking to his social media handle to announce that he wasn’t informed and even had to find out when the public already did.
If such a sensitive decision could be reached without making Kimpembe aware, then it goes to show that other players are not safe from being treated that way, not even World Cup winner Messi who’s reportedly close to extending his contract at the club.
PSG couldn’t respect a player like Kimpembe who has been at the club since he was 10 (2005), and it goes to show that they might even extend the same manner of disrespect to Messi who only joined them in 2021.
A return to Barcelona or a move to Man City where he could link up with former coach Guardiola is more welcomed at this stage than extending his contract at a club that doesn’t show respect to their senior players like Thiago Silva, Cavani (both ex-players), and now Kimpembe.
