Presidential Election: We Knew The Night INEC Chairman Was Going To Declare The Winner – Dele Momodu

A few hours ago, renowned media mogul, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu came out to reveal that his party was aware that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmud Yakubu was going to declare the winner of the February 25 presidential elections at night, despite the myriad of complaints of irregularities that were perceived to have dogged the electoral process.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV’s ‘Political Paradigm’ program on Tuesday, Momodu, who was a spokesman for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, insisted that by failing to pause the collation of polling unit results to attend to the various complaints put forward by opposition parties, Prof Yakubu acted as one who was in a hurry to bring the entire electoral process to a hasty conclusion.

Going further, the PDP chieftain stated that there were suspicions that the INEC Chairman was going to announce the winner at the time he did.

He said; “Yakubu was running as of he was in a race on a field, trying to win an Olympic medal. How do you conduct an election with so many irregularities, and people call your attention to it, and you could not even take one or two extra weeks to even listen to them and examine their complaints? We knew the night the INEC Chairman was going to declare the winner.

We knew that it was going to happen that night. Everybody knew it because he was racing against time. It was as if someone was goading him on.”
