ARS 2-2 FULHAM: How Arsenal’s Second Half Substitutes Changed The Game

Arsenal’s manager Mikel Arteta believes his team were better than Fulham after their 2-2 draw. The manager also admitted that the subs made a huge difference, huge impact to the game.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insisted that his side were “10 times better” against Fulham this season than they were last, despite falling to a 2-2 draw.

The manager said after the match: “The reaction straight after that, even in the first half, the situations and chances we generated, we didn’t give anything away. We controlled the game for full periods but we didn’t score the goal.

“In the second half we made some changes, the dynamic changed, we had better relationships. The subs made a huge difference, great impact, I loved the determination and the confidence that they brought to the team.

“We made the most difficult thing, go 2-1 up. Then you have to defend the box with your life, you cannot concede a goal after everything we did. We should have scored five, six, seven, I don’t know.”

Arteta subbed in four players in the second half, Eddie Nketiah replaced Leandro Trossard while Fabio Vieira replaced Kai Havertz and Zinchenko replaced Thomas Partey. Jorginho was brought in as late minute substitute for Martin Odegaard in the 84th minute.

After Saka netted the equalizer for his side, Fabio Vieira assisted Eddie Nketiah in the 72nd minute to make the score 2-1. The Gunners could have won the game but Palhinha found the back of the net in the 87th minute even though Fulham were down to 10 men.
