Limpopo-Dr. Gaynelle Makhubele of Two Summers Health Centre’s funeral and memorial ceremony plans have been revealed.
The Makhubele family has confirmed that a public memorial service will be held at Impala Park Hall in Phalaborwa on Thursday, August 10, at 11 a.m.
Following the revelation of Makhubele’s death on Sunday, hundreds of messages came in for her family.
Dr. Makhubele died on Sunday, August 6, after collapsing at her practice, according to her relatives.
Her birthplace is Acornhoek, although she grew up in Phalaborwa, where she attended Frans Du Toit High School.
The 32-year-old doctor has a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from the University of Cape Town.
She worked at Letaba Hospital and Maphutha Malatji Hospital before opening Two Summers Health Centre 24-Hour Clinic in Phalaborwa.
“It is shocking and disheartening to lose such a bright and intelligent young doctor in our community,” said Ba-Phalaborwa Mayor Merriam Malatji. The fact that she was able to open a 24-hour clinic for the benefit of the community speaks volumes. It is a tragic loss.”

Dr. Gaynelle Makhubele will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 12.
