The term ‘hat-trick’ is used to define when a player achieves the feat of scoring three goals in a single game. Goals do not need to be scored in succession and it does not matter whether they are scored during normal regulation time or extra time. Scoring a hat-trick in soccer often leads to players receiving the match ball as a symbolic reward or memento due to its relative rarity.
1. Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian had an exceptional start with Al-Ahli as he scored three goals in his debut match against Al-Hazm in the Pro League. The Brazilian forward had an incredible start in his new team heading in the first goal within seven minutes and then efficiently converting Riyad Mahrez’s well-placed pass to extend their lead to 2-0 after just ten minutes. Firmino completed his hat-trick later capitalizing on a precise cross from Allan Saint-Maximin.
2. Dani Olmo
In an exhilarating German Super Cup clash, RB Leipzig clinched a convincing 3-0 victory over reigning champions Bayern Munich thanks to a magnificent hat-trick from Dani Olmo. This outstanding performance overshadowed the highly anticipated debut of Bayern’s star acquisition Harry Kane who had just penned a four-year contract amidst intense media attention.
3. Gift Orban
Nigerian striker, Gift Orban, bagged the first hat-trick of the season as K.A.A. Gent thrashed Pogoń Szczecin 5-0 in the UEFA Europa Conference League third qualifying round 1st leg at the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent, Belgium. Orban opened the scoring in the 13th minute and made it 2-0 with 10 minutes left in the first half. In the 64th minute he completed his hat-trick to make it 5-0. The return leg will take place on Thursday, August 17 in Poland.
