Naja’atu Muhammad: The APC Presidential Ticket Should Have Gone To Osinbajo, Not Tinubu

Naja’atu Muhammad, who once held a leadership position within the Civil Society supporting Bola Tinubu’s campaign for APC’s presidential candidate, recently resigned and raised questions about why Yorubas are supporting Tinubu over Vice President Yemi Osinbajo during the party’s presidential primaries.

In a candid interview, Muhammad expressed that she does not believe Tinubu is mentally and physically capable of holding the office of president and that her conscience can no longer align with the perceived deceit.

According to Muhammad, a national commissioner at the Police Service Commission, his aspiration for a more prosperous Nigeria is a more powerful driving force than any political affiliation.

Explaining her belief that the Vice President was the strongest choice for her former political party, she stated, “When our country has been monopolized by a select few, I can confidently say that, if given the opportunity, I would have wholeheartedly supported Osinbajo, as he is not only a superior individual but also one who is transparent, proactive, and has a comprehensive understanding of the needs of Nigeria.”

Muhammad stated that if a leader can accomplish change within a short period of time, then there is no reason to be sentimental. He questioned why, if the Yorubas were truly serious, they did not entrust the leadership to Osinbajo, who is a pastor.

He commented on the current situation, where it seems to be a Muslim-Muslim affair, and reminded them that the Prophet Muhammad had said that a just atheist is better than an unjust Muslim.

Muhammad then questioned Tinubu’s adherence to Islam. He expressed his disbelief that those who claim to be Muslims but are not truly practicing the religion would be able to deceive others and gain political power.

He called out Tinubu specifically, questioning how truly Islamic he was, considering that he cannot even recite the basic prayer of Fatiha, which is essential for prayer, and therefore if one cannot recite it, it means he has never prayed. He expressed his frustration with this type of behavior, calling it “nonsense.”

“I am not concerned about a Muslim-Muslim ticket, but because Nigeria is a nation of ignorance, people are easily led astray.” “This is why the ruling class deliberately kept education from the people, particularly in the north,” she stated.
