Reactions As LP Chieftain, Doyin Okupe Backs Tinubu’s Stance On Military Invasion Of Niger Republic

Amid the ongoing debate on the best approach to be deployed in resolving the coup in the Niger Republic, reactions have begun trailing a series of social media posts made by Labour Party chieftain, Dr. Doyin Okupe in which he backed President Bola Tinubu’s call for the use of military action in restoring democracy in the french-speaking country.

In a series of tweets posted on his Twitter handle on Friday, August 4, Okupe, who once served as the Director-General of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council, urged Nigerians to support President Tinubu’s move to forcefully remove the coupists who have taken over the seat of power in the Niger Republic.

He went on to insist that the true test of patriotism is when Nigerians put aside their political differences to join hands in protecting the country’s sovereignty, adding that the President is fighting for the enthronement of democracy in the West African region.

As expected, Okupe’s remarks have sparked a flurry of mixed reactions from Nigerians online, with many trooping to the comments section to share their thoughts.

While some persons concurred with the Labour Party chieftains assertions on the need for a military intervention in Niger Republic, others, however, criticized him.
