Nigeria Has Surpassed India in Infant Mortality; India Is 7 Times The Population Of Nigeria—Obi

During a Twitter conversation on Saturday, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, stated that Nigeria has surpassed India in infant mortality, despite the fact that India has 7 times the population of Nigeria. He added that India is a country with the largest population in the world, thriving health care facilities, and a developed economy.

Peter Obi further stated that the lack of health care facilities in the country has made it easy for our mortality rate to increase. He revealed that when he was governor, he tackled the issue of health care facilities in the state by investing in health care. He revealed that when he lived in London, most of the doctors there came from India.

According to him, “Today, Nigeria has surpassed India in infant mortality. India has seven times the population of Nigeria. India is now a country with the largest population in the world, about 1.4 billion, and we’re about 200, so they’re 7 times our population, but we have worse infant mortality than them, especially in northern Nigeria, and this is because of a lack of primary health care.”

When narrating his experience in health as a governor, “Where they had close to about 50–100,000, I’m not privileged to know how many they’re, but when I came, the crowd I saw should be about 3,4000. We have no form of medical facility except a nurse. One nurse was actually there on a volunteer basis. She said she’s tired of hearing or seeing people die, so she decided, . me die with these people.”
