In an interview with Arise News, Dele Farotimi, one of the spokespersons of the Obi/Datti presidential campaign organisation, corrected Oseni Rufai when he said Peter Gregory Obi claimed that the Nigerian Universities system is destroyed.
Oseni Rufai in his intro to the program referenced Peter Obi’s statement at the University of Nigeria Nsukka where he said Peter Obi claimed that universities in Nigeria are more or less destroyed.
Dele Farotimi reacted and said
“There is something you said in your intro that Peter Obi claimed that the university system is more or less destroyed! That is not a claim, that is a fact. There is nowhere in the world where people understand the fact that education is an investment in the future of that country and in the youths of that country where something as intolerable as 9 months of closure
And that is normal because the children of everyone making the policies myself our children are not in Nigerian universities,
it is the poor who send their children there and nobody cares about them anymore.
“If I have been born in this generation, I wouldn’t have entered the four walls of a university. I met the rump of the destroyed university system. So what Peter Obi said is not a claim, it is a fact. ”
