I told Peter Obi to go to court then when he said he’ll just complete 12 months left by Ngige-Falana

Nigeria human rights lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana said that he told the former Anambra state governor, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi to go to court when he said he just wanted to spend 12 months left by Chris Ngige in office as Anambra state governor then.

Mr. Falana made the statement in an interview with Channels Television during the Politics Today program when Seun Okinbaloye asked him about his fear on the integrity of the Judiciary in respect of the election petition.

Mr. Falana firsthand said that he will not join some of his colleagues to wash down or rubbish the judiciary and that judges won’t dispense good judgement. He said to him he will call that fallacy of generalisation.

“For me, once the election petition is well prepared, I don’t think there should be any cause for alarm. Election has been annulled by our court and our court has ordered re-run election even in the case of presidential election before.”

He gave instances of the case of Atiku and Yar’adua and in less than 5 states elections were re-run. He said also in the case of Anambra state, Peter Obi and Ngige, and the case run for 3 years. And a man who didn’t win election was in power for 3 years and when the case was decided, Peter Obi did say he will just go and complete the 12 months tenure and I have to say,

“What tenure, Ngige has no tenure, his tenure is unknown to law so go to court and Supreme court did say the day he Is inaugurated is when his time of office begins to run.”

He said all this has been done by the judiciary so there is nothing strange.
