NSCDC pays last respects to Kaduna troops slain by bandits

The funeral of Fidelis Yusuf, an NSCDC member who was slain by bandits, brought the village of Mararaban Rido, Kaduna, to its knees.

Seven NSCDC employees were attacked and murdered in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna, on February 9, 2023, as reported by the Daily Post.

The Kaduna State Commandant of the National Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Idris Yahya Adah, spoke at the funeral and informed the crowd that the late officer passed away at a time when his service was most required.

Adah, who was represented by Deputy Commandant for Administration, CC Aminu Shaba, spoke highly of the late Yusuf, calling him a “hero” for his tireless efforts on behalf of the helpless.

As one of us, he has moved us profoundly. During his life, he gave his everything, yet there are many ways to meet one’s maker. He then said, “May his soul rest in peace.”

The Reverend Peter Dogo, who based his homily on John 9:1–5, said that everyone should have a strong connection to their creator before they die and that Fidelis Yusuf was a devout believer with a remarkable relationship with his God.

Officers of the NSCDC were encouraged to remain dedicated to both God and duty.
