2023 Oyo Guber: Makinde Woos Religious Leaders Over His Second Term Bid

Seyi Makinde, the governor of Oyo State, has separately met with Muslim and Christian clerics in the state’s Oriire Local Government Area to discuss his candidacy for reelection.

The five local governments in the Ogbomoso Zone would become agro-industrial processing zones, according to a statement released by Makinde’s chief press secretary, Taiwo Adisa, on Wednesday. He continued by saying that by integrating all of the state’s zones, the current administration had created the required framework for the state’s economic growth.

The governor responded, “I have taken note of a few of your points, particularly the one about improving rural roads. To assist us in repairing the rural roads, we have put something in place. But it just indicates that we need to exert more effort since what we’re doing now is insufficient. I assure you that we will take the necessary action quickly.

We are gradually creating the groundwork for the majority of the things we do, and connecting our zones is one of those important foundations. “If our people can farm, work in a safe and secure environment, and have access to infrastructure to transfer their produce, it indicates we are making progress toward economic independence. Therefore, we’ll keep pushing the envelope and get better results with Omituntun 2.0.

Sunday Olojede, the general secretary of CAN for the Ogbomoso zone, praised Makinde earlier in his speech for the many admirable initiatives his administration has carried out in the zones. Makinde also met with the Ikoyi-Ile Central Mosque leadership of the Muslim community, where he urged the Muslim Ummah to support his administration, cooperate with it, and vote for him again so he may continue to take the state from poverty to wealth.
