Member of Parliament for Tinderet and Education committee member Hon. Julius Meli, has backed President William Ruto`s initiative to retain the CBC. Meli says the CBC is the way curriculum for Kenya, adding that the new system is going to make education accessible by all Kenyans. Meli, hinted out that, the CBC is cheap and no Kenyan child will be left out.
He admitted that, there have been challenges due to lack of enough facilities, hinting out lack of classrooms and laboratory. He stated that, teachers are the engine that will help the CBC go through the next level.
He further said that the CBC largely revolves around key people, the child and the teacher, adding that, the CBC will enable the child know what he or she is good at and should therefore be created a room for innovation. On the teachers’ involvement, he said, a competent teacher will teach anywhere provided he or she has been supplied with the learning materials.
“CBC is the best curriculum for this country… it will make education cheap in terms of access and cost,” he said.
Educationist, Dr. John Mugo, equally heaped praises on the Kenya Kwanza government for allowing the CBC into their administration, he noted that, the CBC is going to embrace the Techno world, hinting out that, the children will be exposed more to technology.
Mugo, seconded the government move to domicile Junior Secondary school in primary level. He said that the teachers equally need to change their minds concerning the CBC and parents need to play a vital role in the lives of their kids.
“Domiciling junior secondary schools in primary schools was a good decision. For CBC to succeed, teachers` attitude towards CBC needs to change and parents need to understand they play a role in the education of their children,” he said.
