Terrorists Ambush Army Convoy

A Lieutenant Colonel of the Nigerian Army, N.B. Ahmed has been abducted following an ambush on a military convoy by gunmen suspected to be terrorists.

Sahara Reporters gathered that the senior military officer was abducted along Tsafe (Zamfara)/Funtua (Katsina) road on Friday, January 6.

The abducted officer is the new commanding officer of the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army, Sokoto.

A military signal exclusively obtained by Sahara Reporters also confirmed the incident.

19 Killed, 20 Injured In China Road Crash

Nineteen people died and 20 were injured Sunday in a road traffic accident in eastern China’s Jiangxi province, state media reported.

Local news outlet Jimu, affiliated with the state-owned Hubei Daily Media Group, reported the accident took place when a truck hit a funeral procession.

People had been carrying out a roadside offering to the dead before planning to head to the crematorium Sunday morning, a local woman surnamed Deng told the outlet.

The presidential candidate of Allied People’s Movement (APM), Chichi Ojei, has expressed confidence in winning next month’s presidential election.

Ms Ojei said this in Abuja at the weekend in a New Year message.

There are altogether 18 presidential candidates in the 25 February election.

Ms Ojei said being the only female candidate in the race, she stood a better chance of winning.

Cross River APC Chieftain Hellen Boco Dumps Party

A former Deputy Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River, Mrs Hellen Boco, has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Boco, who was the running mate to Usani Usani, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs in the 2019 general elections, disclosed this at an interactive session with newsmen in Calabar on Saturday.
