Fire Destroys Shops, Cars In Osogbo

No fewer than nine shops, two vehicles have been destroyed in a fire outbreak at the station road opposite Total filling station in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Channels Television reports that the inferno which started on Saturday evening has been on for hours.

19 Feared Dead, 20 Injured In China Road Crash

Nineteen people died and 20 were injured Sunday in a road traffic accident in eastern China’s Jiangxi province, state media reported.

The “major road traffic accident” took place just before 1:00 am (1700 GMT) in Nanchang County, state broadcaster CCTV reported, citing local authorities.

“The cause of the accident is under in-depth investigation,” CCTV added.

Kwankwaso Loses Political Ally To APC In Kano

Yusuf Babangida, a lawmaker representing Gwale Local Government in the Kano State House of Assembly, has re-joined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Babangida who previously belonged to the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) was considered by Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NNPP’s presidential candidate, as one of his closest political allies.

Operatives of the Zamfara State Police Command have killed 2 gunrunners following an extensive gun battle along Gunmi-Anka Road, while conveying arms to terrorists camp in Zamfara from Taraba State. 

Spokesperson of the Command, SP Mohammed Shehu said on Sunday that items recovered included a Toyota Corolla Vehicle containing 3 live shells for rockets RPG, 3 explosive shells, 151 rounds of live ammunition for Anti Aircraft Rifle (AA) and some assorted charms.

Police Beef Up Security In Yobe Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit

Security has been beefed up in Damaturu ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Yobe on Monday.
