The government says it will not hesitate to put Kenya defense forces in charge of the ongoing of security operation in the bandit-stricken northern parts of the country.
The successful recovery of a gun from a wanted bandit in Laikipia by the police is highly commendable and represents a significant step towards reducing crime and insecurity in the region. 
The region has been grappling with banditry for a long time, with the government struggling to contain the problem. ”Kenyans must find a formula to making the country one geographic, economic and social entity again. The north should be integrated with the rest of Kenya through a network of roads, railways and even airports as conceived in the Lapse corridor project,” Kaikai stated.
