APC Members Pledge To Support The Governor Candidate For Rivers State After Tinubu Won

In the upcoming governorship and State Assembly elections on March 11, some members of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers State have pledged to support Peoples Democratic Party candidate Siminialaye Fubara. Fubara is the anointed candidate of the state governor, Nyesom Wike.

This, they say, is payback for Wike’s help in securing the APC’s victory in the state as its presidential candidate. They went on to say that Tinubu’s 25 percent vote threshold, mandated by the state constitution, would not have been met without his intervention.

Months before the APC presidential primaries, the team had inaugurated institutions across the state to canvass support for Tinubu, but the leader of the APC in the state opposed them, as highlighted by the chairman of the APC’s Local Organising Committee for the campaign in the state.

According to Okocha, a member of the APC’s PCC and Independent Campaign Council in the state, the party was prevented from reidating, and the APC was prohibited from electioneering activities without regard to the electoral acts.
