Exciting FA Cup Games to Watch this weekend

This weekend marks the start of the FA Cup’s third round, and the matches may be thrilling.

The big boys will compete to add another trophy to their trophy case. On the other hand, a number of teams from the lower levels are attempting to pull off a noteworthy upset.

1. Manchester United vs Everton (Friday, January 6, 20:00 GMT)

This matchup should be of a higher calibre since it is one of five Premier League matches. This game has a lot on the line for both teams, which makes for an exciting matchup.

Manchester United has a chance to end their trophy drought in this campaign. Since winning the Europa League in 2017, they have gone nearly 40 years without winning a trophy. They were ousted by lower-tier Middlesbrough on penalties last year.

With no wins for Everton since 1995, they have gone even longer without a trophy. There is a lot of pressure on manager Frank Lampard since there are rumours that if he does not achieve a result, this could be his final game in command of the toffees.

2. Liverpool vs Wolverhampton Wanderers (Saturday, January 7, 20:00 GMT)

The reigning champions from the previous year are back to contend for the title, and they have been dealt a very challenging beginning.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have had a difficult season, winning just three of their 18 Premier League games. Nevertheless, they should be a more difficult opponent now that former Real Madrid manager Julen Lopetegui is in charge.

Liverpool, who are currently 16 points off the league lead, have also struggled this season. Their best chance of success may lie in the FA Cup since a title run appears unlikely.

3. Manchester City vs Chelsea (Sunday, January 8, 16:30 GMT)

The third round’s most intriguing matchup takes place at the Etihad Stadium between two of the “big six” teams from the Premier League. Both will want to win the trophy, but on Sunday, one will be eliminated.

With this trophy, Manchester City’s reign of terror officially begun in 2011. They have only succeeded in winning it once since then, and in each of the previous three seasons, they have lost in the semifinals.

Chelsea has recently experienced even worse heartbreak. In the past three years, they have lost three FA Cup finals, most recently to Liverpool on penalties.

In the Premier League and the Carabao Cup, the two teams have already faced off twice this season.
