After five years of service to the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC), Mr. Abdi Guliye is reportedly expected to resign from his position.
On Friday, during the presentation of Elgeyo Marakwet senator-elect William Kisang, Mr. Guliye made the announcement in a statement that he would be leaving office in 11 days. On January 17, 2023, this would occur.
The Commissioner, who was one of the three members of the IEBC who didn’t overturn President Ruto’s victory in the August election, said that this might be his last time on the electoral Commission.
He went on to say, “This is probably my last official assignment at the IEBC before I leave.”
In addition, he acknowledged that he and his team, which included IEBC boss Wafula Chebukati, remained committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process despite the difficulties they encountered during the previous elections.
Mr. Guliye stated, “As a commission, we have faced a lot of challenges, but we have always remained committed to upholding the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring that every vote counts.”
