Top ODM Official Admits Ruto is the President, Makes an Announcement

Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Chairman John Mbadi has admitted that there are no two ways about who is the country’s President at the moment.

This comes at time when some ODM bigwigs, led by the party’s leader and founder Raila Odinga, are refusing to acknowledge Ruto’s presidency, claiming that he was rigged in in the August 2022 election.

But Mbadi has admitted that Ruto is the President, while announcing that as a result, leaders elected on the ODM ticket have every right to work and associate with his government.

He has admitted that it is only this way that their people can benefit from government services and development, announcing that even ODM governors are free to work with Ruto’s leadership.

“We have two level of government but eventually we have one government headed by (President) Ruto. There is no way we can isolate ourselves. Everybody pays tax so that they can get services and these services are offered by the government,” he told The Star.

But he has at the same time pointed out that this doesn’t mean that they begin crossing over to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) side, stating that such will not be tolerated.

“There is a difference between working with government and with UDA or Kenya Kwanza. If they are working with UDA, then that is political and we must call that out,” the nominated lawmaker says.

But Raila has rejected Ruto’s win, and has maintained that he is an illegitimate President who was given his (Raila) win. He has held that he was the victor of the August 9 presidential contest.

This is also the belief of Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, who was his running mate, and who has completely refused to accept Ruto as President.
