Orange Democratic Movement ODM party is celebrating after their candidate I’m Shella Ward Lamu County won Thursday’s by-elections.
They have noted that he won in the results that were declared by the presiding officer after the completion of the counting of votes on Thursday evening.
He has defeated among others Abduljabar Saamiya Mohamed of United Democratic Alliance movement Party as well as the Amani National Congress ANC party candidate in the by-elections.

The Commission is today conducting by-elections for Member of the Senate for Elgeyo Marakwet County; two Members of National Assembly (MNA) for Kandara and Garissa Township Constituencies, and Member for Shella Ward, Lamu County Assembly.
The four candidates contesting for the Member for Shella Ward, Lamu County Assembly are Shee Nizar Mohamed (UGM), Mohamed Atwaa Salim (ODM), Ali Mohamed Hassan (ANC) and Abduljabar Saamiya Mohamed (UDA).
Earlier, the Orange Democratic Movement candidate in the Shella Ward by-election had been injured.
Mr Atwa Salim Mohamed was injured during a confrontation with an opponent’s supporters outside the Shella Primary School polling station.
At the time of the attack, Mr Mohamed had already voted at the polling centre and was heading home with his friends when a group of rowdy individuals believed to be supporters of one of the candidates in the by-election descended on him with kicks and blows before he was rescued by the public.
