Kolawole Samson Aremu Sanusi, a 51-year-old man who claimed that he could discover where natural minerals are deposited in Nigerian soil, has been taken to a rehabilitation center for treatment.

In the video that was posted on TikTok and went viral on the internet, Samson could be seen having a mental issue as he claimed that he could identify mineral deposits with his feet.

According to the Tribune, Samson is a graduate of industrial chemistry from Olabisi Onabanjo University and he was one of the best students.

Some of those who saw his video wondered how someone with such brilliance would be left to wander on the road. After a few days that Samson’s video went viral, his house in the Arinlese neighborhood of Ogun State was burnt down due to a domestic accident.

Morenikeji, a man who recorded Samson’s video, told newsmen that he recorded him because he was amazed by his level of intelligence and knowledge of Nigerian history. This wasn’t the first time people would see Samson making claims about several things.

However, when he mentioned that he could discover the locations of the country’s natural minerals with his feet, they concluded that he should be taken to the hospital. Samson’s family took him to the Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, immediately they heard his house was got burned.

He was discharged from the hospital after a few days and transferred to another medical center. People close to his family told journalists that Samson may be suffering from schizophrenia, which is a condition characterized by distortions of reality.

Some of his friends from Olabisi Onabanjo University have visited him at the rehabilitation center and supported him after seeing his video online. Newsmen who visited his house that was got burned found out that workers were already there and were renovating the house.

Some newsmen also went with Samson’s family to visit him at the rehabilitation center. He was interviewed, and his reply showed that there’s been a great improvement in his mental health.

However, nurses on duty could not disclose anything to newsmen about Samson’s health status as their profession did not permit it. However, the rehabilitation center suggested that he should be admitted for some months to allow for proper treatment.
