Nigerian youths could not have done anything better to send across the message that they fully identify with the presidential bid of one of their own, Professor Christopher Imumolen as they have initiated a first-of-it’s-kind medical outreach to reach out to their less privileged compatriots, as well as create awareness for their candidate ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The youths, simply moved by the young professor’s desire to offer a lifeline to the suffering masses of the country who have endured enormous deprivation through poor and uninspiring leadership for decades, decided to initiate the programme on the eve of the elections to mobilise support for him and his party, Accord.
The 7 days programme will hold in 18 states simultaneously every day of the week, excluding Sundays.
According to a statement from the student body of the JPTS, the medical outreach have had doctors, nurses and other medical personnel examine and treat persons (where applicable) in the last few days, and have promised to continue in the same manner every scheduled day till it’s termination this weekend.
Testimonies of different ailments treated at the outreach have been pouring forth from Nigerians who have had the opportunity to participate in the programme.
A spokesman for the group who craves anonymity said the initiative to launch the medical outreach was informed by the desire to sell the candidature of Professor Imumolen to the Nigerian electorate as the man with the capacity, passion and wherewithal to transform this country from an underdeveloped country to a developed one if elected.
“The initiative to launch this outreach programme was informed by our desire as youths of this country to sensitize the public to the candidature of Professor Christopher Imumolen as the right man for the job of Nigeria’s president,” he said.
“We have tasted of Professor Imumolen’s good works in terms of free scholarships awards. Some of our parents, relatives and friends have benefited from various empowerment programmes he has initiated over the years to assist us on the road to fulfilling our innate potentials.
“So, we just felt that it made sense for us to also rise up and do something innovative to reach out to the people and sell his candidacy as that man who truly has our interest at heart as an empathetic and compassionate leader,” he added.
States in which the programme is ongoing include, Lagos, Edo, Kogi, Delta, Ogun, FCT Abuja, Benue, Enugu, Taraba, Oyo and Kaduna.
Others are Plateau, Rivers, Ondo, Nassarawa, Kwara and Kano States.
