Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has approved palliatives for various vulnerable groups in the State to cushion the effects of the ongoing fuel scarcity and the currency swap policy in the country.
Leadership Newspaper reported that; the palliatives included cash transfer to widows, pensioners, transporters, marketers, smallholder farmers, and other vulnerable people and it will be done through the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) for proper coordination and accountability.
Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor’s chief press secretary, made the announcement on Thursday.
In order to lessen the effects of the crisis, the Governor has instructed KWASSIP to finalise the details and implement this minimal help as quickly as feasible.
The deployment of free buses along specified routes utilised by tertiary institution students and personnel in the capital city, where the consequences of the gasoline shortage have been most noticeable, has also been ordered by the governor.
Relevant government bodies and agencies will provide more information on this palliative. On Monday, February 13, 2023, the free bus travels for the students will start, according to the announcement.
