Ghana’s music scene is ablaze with drama as Alaye Geng, a talented music duo, dropped a drill sensation on October 18, 2023, featuring the renowned rapper Ypee. However, what started as a musical collaboration took a heated turn as Ypee seized the opportunity to diss his long-standing rival, Oseikrom Sikanii.
In the song, YPee openly acknowledges Oseikrom Sikani’s public shots at him, choosing an indirect response to assert that Oseikrom Sikani is not on his level. This strategic move sheds light on the intricate dynamics of Ghana’s rap scene, where artists navigate rivalries and alliances through their verses.
The tension between YPee and Oseikrom Sikani escalated during a recent interview with MC Portfolio on Radio One. Oseikrom Sikani boldly challenged YPee, labeling him and his team as fake, and boasting about his wealth and stature. The feud continued on Snapchat on November 17, 2023, with both artists slinging mud and accusing each other of living fake lives.
Since its release a week ago, the song, titled ‘Money Soon,’ has dominated the charts, sparking debates and leaving fans intrigued. The music video, currently in the works, features snippets from the shooting in Kumasi, where rapper Kweku Flick has joined the duo in a different song expected to be released soon.
The inspiration behind “Money Soon” lies in the shared experiences of Alaye Geng – the relentless pursuit of a prosperous future. YPee’s verse in the song adds fuel to the speculation about a rivalry with Oseikrom Sikani, making it a hot topic among fans and music enthusiasts. Stay tuned for more updates on this musical saga as it unfolds.
